- Take some time each day to reflect on what Scripture reveals about the person and work of Jesus.
- Consider the significance of Jesus’ final days.
- Prepare to celebrate His resurrection and promise of new life for all who believe!
These passages are just a small selection to help guide you through each day of the Passion Week. For a full account of the happenings of each day of the days, read Russ Ramsey’s article, Easter Week in Real Time.
WHY DO A READING PLAN FOR THIS WEEK?
Many Christians today seek to distinguish between a “head faith” and a “heart faith”. In other words, true faith is not simply giving mental assent to facts, it’s personally embracing and depending on those facts in such a way that your thinking, desires, and choices begin to be transformed.
We wholeheartedly agree with this!
At the same time, in seeking to emphasize that the Christian faith is not just a matter of the head, we must be careful to recognize that faith is not only a matter of the heart. The subjective aspects of the Christian faith must be grounded firmly in the objective historical realities revealed to us in Scripture (Luke 1:1-4; 2 Peter 1:16).
Ultimately, faith is trusting (relying on) what you do have evidence to believe is true. Faith is reasonable. It is not subjective hopes and dreams. It is intellectual and rooted in history and absolute, unchanging truth. Without these facts, we would have no firm foundation when our feelings change or objective grounds to even evaluate our thinking, feeling, and desires.Take the time to read the historical account of Jesus’ last days and consider the significance of these days for your life and eternity.
