Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus for the glory of God. However, it’s not just about amassing a bunch of people to pack out a building so we can build bigger ones. Our vision is to raise up and send out our own to see other churches established and strengthened so that more disciples of Jesus would be made for the glory of God – here and around the world.
How good God is to allow us the privilege of being a part of what He is doing in this world for His glory!
With that in mind, have you realized that part of what it means to be a member of Lebanon Baptist, is that you have signed up to actively participate in this mission and vision with the other members? We don’t just attend services at the same location each week. We don’t simply go to church for the sake of our own experience and growth. We are members one of another, and this body is about something much bigger than ourselves. If we are going to be the church we ought to be, then each member needs to buy into the mission and vision so much to the point that we are intent on being trained and equipped to better participate in them.Have you realized that part of what it means to be a member of Lebanon Baptist, is that you have signed up to actively participate in this mission and vision with the other members? This training and equipping to both be disciples of Jesus and make disciples of Jesus happens on a spectrum within the life of the church.
congregation ⇄ classes ⇄ small groups ⇄ 1 to 1 relationships
Our main gatherings each week both fuel and express our discipleship, while the individual relationships with each other and with nonChristians serve as the context and overflow of our discipleship. In between those two you’ll find small groups that meet routinely outside of the main gatherings to provide a closer community for mutual discipleship. But one aspect of our church life that is intentionally geared toward training and equipping us for this discipleship is our weekly LifeStage Classes.
Through the development of strategic content and core curriculum, the goal of these classes is that we as members would grow in our abilities to understand the overarching truths of God and His Word. Our desire is to become skilled in applying a biblical framework for every aspect of life and better equipped to participate in the mission and vision of the church.
But why should you consider assembling an hour earlier and commit to being equipped through LifeStage Classes?
Here are 4 reasons:
- Biblical literacy + Theological Understanding
- Practical Life-application + Obedience
- Mutual Care + Discipling
- Leadership Training + Development
Over the next few blog posts here at LBCEquip, we will explore these objectives of LifeStage Classes and what they mean for you as a member. Why not take some time to consider each of them and plan on being a part of these classes this Fall?
