Nothing can or should replace a consistent daily time in the Word of God. The Scriptures alone are sufficient for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). However, we would like to introduce helpful resources to reinforce the philosophy, vision, and purposes of our God-given mission as a churchWhile we may not align with each author in all areas, we are confident these resources will be profitable for you as you strive to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Build a Personal Library

The following books are suggestions to guide you in building a personal library. There are always more good books than we can even begin to recommend, but we believe this will be a great start. Rebellious Creature and Condemned Sinner

As a church, we are seeking to grow in knowing, understanding, and sharing the gospel with others. This simple framework is designed to help us in our conversations: God. Man. Christ. Response. We’ve considered how the Gospel is rooted in the reality that God is the loving creator and righteous ruler of all. As His creation, we were designed to find our joy, satisfaction, and life in a relationship with Him, submitting to His good rule over us (Revelation 4:11). The Reality of Man’S CONDITION Although we…

2020 Bible Reading Plans

We honor the Bible as the revelation of God to man and our final authority for belief and behavior. With this in mind, each year we seek to give ourselves to a simple, yet consistent reading of the Bible. For 2020, there are two different plans we are encouraging the church family to consider. THE PLANS READ SCRIPTURE EXPERIENCE1 This plan takes you on a chronological journey through the Bible that will help you see the whole Bible as one unified…

Our Loving Creator and Righteous Ruler

Over the last few months, we have been focusing in on our efforts to know, understand, and share the gospel with others. The Gospel is the message that God uses to save people from sin and to reconcile them to Himself (Romans 1:16; 2 Corinthians 5:20). Since this is the message His ambassadors carry into this world, we desire to be faithful to it. In our efforts to explain this message, keep in mind these 4 key ideas – GOD. MAN. CHRIST.…

Evangelism Initiative

We believe that the local church is God’s primary means of getting the message of the Gospel to the world. Since the New Testament indicates that the proclamation of the gospel is the responsibility of each member of the body, then we want to commit to understand and proclaim the Gospel locally, nationally, and globally. As a church, we call this priority intentional evangelism. We lovingly proclaim the gospel to all kinds of people and call them to respond in repentance…

Why LifeStage Classes, Part 4

LifeStage Classes meet each Sunday morning at 9:30, but why should you consider coming an hour before the main morning gathering for these classes? To answer that, we’ve dedicated a few posts here at LBCEquip to discuss the importance of LifeStage Classes for each member. So far, we’ve discussed 2 objectives: Biblical literacy + Theological Understanding Practical Life-application + Obedience In this post, we will consider the third objective of mutual care and discipling. Mutual Care + Discipling In our western culture, it’s…

Why LifeStage Classes? Part 3

Caring for One Another

What if you were a part of a community of believers who really entrusted themselves to each other’s care? A group where you can openly talk of your pain and others respond with deep understanding, compassion, and prayer. You can speak of your joys, and people rejoice with you. You can be honest about your struggles with sin, and others run to help you fight and pray with you. A group where you can even humbly and graciously recognize differences with…
