Nothing can or should replace a consistent daily time in the Word of God. The Scriptures alone are sufficient for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). However, we would like to introduce helpful resources to reinforce the philosophy, vision, and purposes of our God-given mission as a churchWhile we may not align with each author in all areas, we are confident these resources will be profitable for you as you strive to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Build a Personal Library

The following books are suggestions to guide you in building a personal library. There are always more good books than we can even begin to recommend, but we believe this will be a great start. Each of these titles will soon be available in the Resource Center where you can either check out a copy or purchase one for yourself or a friend.

Family Ministry Resources

We’ve stated that LBC’s ministry to children and families exists to glorify God by partnering with and equipping parents to lead children to embrace Jesus as Lord and Savior and to pursue God with their whole heart. It’s easy for parents to “delegate” their responsibilities to teach and train their children to the structured programs of the local church. However, we are convinced that the discipling center for children is the home! Dads and moms are the ones that are called to tell…

Loving Church Members with Different Politics

Well … it’s that time again … election season. Once again, the division between political candidates and parties is rife! Campaign ads seem to be less geared toward promoting the virtues of particular candidates and more toward dragging their opponents through the mud. It can get pretty ugly at times. Unfortunately, this unpleasant division can tend to filter into the believer’s life and seriously impact the love and unity within a local church. So, what happens if you disagree with another…

What If I Don’t Feel Like Going to Church?

For 10 weeks, Lebanon Baptist Church did not meet together. Sure we sang some songs and we listened to sermons as we tuned into the Sunday Broadcasts from our living rooms. But it wasn’t church – we didn’t assemble (church, by its very definition, is an assembly). Even now, our in-person gatherings are limited and the assembly is still not able to fully get back together. It has certainly been a unique time. So, how has this affected you? Some…

20 Questions: Patriarch Edition

We’ve recently begun a sermon series through Genesis 12-20  to explore the life of Abraham. Of course, Abraham is a popular Bible character, but how well do you know the details of his life? Here are 20 questions to help you investigate a little more about him. Try to answer these together with your family or roommates. Or you could challenge a fellow church member to a contest. Maybe you could have a friendly competition within your small group. Actually, let’s…

There Is A God in Heaven

As we begin another week, take a few moments to read through Daniel 2. While you are reading, consider the significance of this reality: there is a God in heaven. The king of Babylon had a dream and it left him extremely unsettled (v. 1-3). He called his wise men to interpret the dream for him, with one stipulation: he refused to tell them what the dream was. To make matters worse, if they didn’t interpret his dream, they would…

Be Still

This is our final post in our series of meditations through Psalm 46. If you haven’t yet, take some time to read through the Psalm and then read the first few posts. Confidence in Crisis (v. 1-3) The Joy, Stability, and Security of God’s Presence (v. 4-7) Behold the Works of the Lord (v. 8-9) In verses 8-11, we are given a 2-part invitation to know God’s presence. This isn’t just knowing His presence theoretically, but knowing it as a day-to-day reality.…

Behold the Works of the Lord

In Psalm 46 we have learned that the greatness of God’s character and the reality of His presence can turn our fear, distress, and anxiety into joy, security, and stability! But let’s get honest. The idea of God’s presence does seem a little bit abstract, at least to some of us. How can we truly experience His presence, knowing it to be a day-to-day reality and not just a concept? Real fears need real answers, and vague theological concepts are…

The Joy, Stability, and Security of God’s Presence

This week, we are meditating on Psalm 46 together. You can read the first part of this series here. In verses 1-3 of this Psalm, we saw that fear comes into our lives when we realize that the very things we thought we could count on have the potential of being removed at any moment. That is where many people in our world are living right now. However, in the face of distress and uncertainty, the reality of God’s character…
