THE BIBLE

THE BIBLE

Though it may seem obvious, we believe it cannot be overstated that we value the Bible. In fact, the Bible is the spring from which all our other values will flow.

The revelation from God to man and our only authority for belief and behavior.

We too often have a clouded perspective on life and the world around us. That is why we need the clear and objective Truth of God’s Word speaking into our lives continually (Isaiah 55:8-11). Therefore, we endeavor to have God’s Word dictate and dominate every aspect of Lebanon Baptist Church, both individually and corporately.

We will place a high priority on the public preaching of God’s Word. It will be central to our gatherings. We will commit to read it, pray it, sing it, teach it, listen to it, and, by grace, joyfully submit ourselves to it. We will pursue deepening our abilities to read, study, understand, and apply the Bible.

Bible-ReadingKnowing that true spiritual growth happens as we are exposed to the glory of God revealed in His Word (2 Corinthians 3:18), we will also place a high priority on the reading and studying of God’s Word. We will seek to grow in memorizing and meditating on the Word of God, and seeking to practically apply it to our lives, having it realign our beliefs and affections.

… you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
